Successful debut of the category's new brake supplier praised by drivers and team bosses
The opening of the 2024 Stock Car season, held last weekend at the Ayrton Senna International Autodrome in Goiânia (GO), was marked by good battles on the tracks and the successful debut of Hipper Freios, the new brake supplier for the main Brazilian motorsport category. The Stock Car record at the Goiânia track was broken in the very first race and this is directly related to the new components.
The parts produced by the Santa Catarina-based company feature the use of niobium in their composition, which provides greater mechanical and thermal resistance, allowing the discs produced by Hipper Freios not to overheat. Drivers in the category complimented the new brake discs.
“It was a weekend when, at first, we were trying to understand the brakes. These brake discs are very good and we quickly adapted to them. We performed strongly every time we took to the track. This whole set of brakes we have has evolved very well so that we can have a better performance. The track record was broken, and that shows the quality of the components”, said Felipe Baptista, who broke the Goiânia track record by recording 1min26s823 in 1Q qualifying.
“It was the first contact we had with the car in 2024, and the first contact with Hipper Freios. The cars are very good and the brakes have worked very well, making the vehicles even safer. I can only congratulate everyone involved in this project. I'm sure all the drivers liked it too, because the brakes are very efficient”, said Gabriel Casagrande, who leaves Goiânia in the lead of the championship.
Andreas Mattheis, head of the AMattheis team, highlighted the importance of the brakes in the car, especially in Stock Car vehicles. It is important that the parts are resistant to thermal variation, since the brakes reach 600°C in the rear wheels, and 800°C in the discs installed in the front wheels.
“Brakes are the most important item in a car, as they are a safety item. In addition to good cooling, it is important that the construction of the disc is of good quality so that there is no risk of it cracking due to thermal variation”, comments Andreas Mattheis, AMattheis team manager.
The approval of the parts produced by Hipper Freios by the drivers and team managers was celebrated by the company.
“We're very proud to be at Stock Car, which is the top level of motorsport here in Brazil, bringing our technology and our quality. We're happy and confident and the feedback has been very positive at the start of our work with Stock Car”, said Gilson João da Silva, director-president of Hipper Freios.
The next round of the Stock Car series is scheduled for March 24, at Velocitta, in Mogi Guaçu (SP).
“All this together gives us the certainty that we are on the right track, adding high technology and the performance of the people who make the difference in all the areas in which Hipper Freios operates”, concluded Gilson João da Silva.
